Standing Group Elections

Please see this call for nominations from the CCCC Medical Rhetoric Standing Group’s  Associate Chair, Lucía Durá:

We enthusiastically invite you to nominate yourself or someone else to run for two open officer positions in the Medical Rhetoric Standing Group (MRSG): Associate Chair and At-Large Member. Aside from being leadership opportunities, these positions offer a chance for individuals to get to know other members of our wonderful community by working together. Additionally, the MRSG appoints a Graduate Student representative each year. Below is a description of the duties for each role. Know that current officers have found these duties more manageable than they might appear. Each elected officer serves a term of two years. If you have any questions about the duties or eligibility, please e-mail me.

Associate Chair

  • Assist the Chair with the duties and activities of the MRSG
  • Conduct elections
  • Assist in the planning of activities at the annual conference
  • Serve as liaison to other relevant standing groups or consortiums (such as the Disability Rhetoric Standing Group)

At-Large Member

  • Create CFP for standing panel and ensure that it is presented to the Communication officer for posting
  • Facilitate the process of arranging the MRSG panel at the CCCC
  • Assist in the planning of activities at the annual conference
  • Assist as needed in the running of the MRSG

Graduate Student Member

  • Assist in the planning of activities at the annual conference
  • Sit on the committee for standing panel selection
  • Provide insights on graduate student concerns

Please send your nominations to Lucía Durá by Friday, April 15th at ldura@utep.edu. I will reach out to nominees to confirm their willingness to run and will request a 200 word bio and photo.

Online voting will begin on April 25th and will be open for a week. The link to online voting will be shared via the RHM listserv and other MRSG communication channels (Twitter, Facebook). Election results will be announced by the first week of May.
