Description of Work:

I am a Deaf/Disability Studies scholar with interdisciplinary backgrounds in Technical Communication, Accessibility, Universal Design, and Social Work. I hold a Ph.D. in Disability Studies from the University of Illinois at Chicago. My dissertation focuses on healthcare communication access to examine healthcare providers’ and Deaf patients’ experiences and preferences for using Video Remote Interpreting and in-person interpreting for critical care and non-critical care. I am currently writing an article about my reflections on accommodating a mixed-methods study. I hope that this article empowers Deaf and hearing researchers to prepare mixed methods research with translingual/transcultural competence.
