{"id":43,"date":"2019-02-19T21:53:38","date_gmt":"2019-02-19T21:53:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/medicalrhetoric.com\/symposium2019\/?page_id=43"},"modified":"2019-02-19T21:54:32","modified_gmt":"2019-02-19T21:54:32","slug":"awards","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/medicalrhetoric.com\/symposium2019\/awards\/","title":{"rendered":"Awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We will again be selecting award winners for the top works-in-progress, which we see as those works that hold particular promise for their contribution to RHM.<\/p>\n<p>In 2017, the symposium organizers made the decision to give two awards that carry the name of two distinguished leaders in RHM.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Judy Segal Top Paper Award<br \/>\nGiven in honor of Judy Segal&#8217;s influential scholarship in the field of RHM<\/li>\n<li>Barbara Heifferon Graduate Student Fellowship<br \/>\ngiven to the top paper by a graduate student to honor Barbara&#8217;s commitment to mentoring, inclusivity, and growing the field<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The top papers are determined by the planning committee. The committee can, if warranted, select papers for the Distinguished Paper Award. The co-editors of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/journals.upress.ufl.edu\/rhm\/index\">Rhetoric of Health and Medicine<\/a> will offer to work with award winner for submission to the journal, though they are not required to.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We will again be selecting award winners for the top works-in-progress, which we see as those works that hold particular promise for their contribution to RHM.
