My dissertation will focus on the intersection of fat activism and self-care through the Greek concept of parrhesia or frank speech. I am interested in learning how activists balance their responsibility to themselves and the communities they serve when activism and care are viewed as the effects of distributed agency, rather than individually-directed responses. My other interests include the rhetoric of diets and foodways rhetoric.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I also teach Communication at Galveston College, where in addition to teaching I am wrapping-up serving as the college\u2019s Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) Director.
