Description of Work:

Research interests include public rhetorics, “rhetoricability,” intercultural communication, and disability studies. Currently, she is examining shifts in discourses of emotional struggle in which the language of care has been taken up over the past decade. More specifically, her research explores the themes of “empowerment,” “agency,” and “self-efficacy” that have been taken up and used differently in multiple discourse communities with a particular emphasis on the online spaces in which hegemonic biomedical assumptions about mental health are being challenged.
