Madison Wiese (she/they)

Graduate Teaching Assistant

University of Nevada, Las Vegas

Description of Work:

Madison Wiese is a second year Master’s student who studies sexual health, agency, and chronic illness within relational and health communication contexts. Specially, she is interested in how chronic illness and gender expectations factor into how women navigate pain with sex from illnesses such as endometriosis. Through qualitative and critical methodology, her work aims to use communication as way to improve the social-psychological element of pain in sexual and relational communication.

She is currently conducting her thesis, which is a thematic analysis of endometriosis patients and sexual communication to uncover barriers women face in privileging their sexual pleasure and health in the midst of illness.
