Description of Work:

My primary research explores linguistic framing of environmental risk phenomena through rhetorical critical discourse analysis. I explore intersectional environmental justice issues as related to energy extraction by exploring competing definitions of environmental risk, including the often unequal balance of institutional authority vs. public participant authority in making risk claims. As risks overlap, I look at the ways by which arguments and policy for a concern for human health is often a catalyst for deeper understandings of environmental health.
