Description of your work

Most of my work examines recent histories of reproduction. In particular, I’m working to identify how shame has rhetorically figured into women’s experiences with reproductive options, literacies, and policy. As a feminist scholar, I’m increasingly engaging with methodologies of reproductive justice as I do this work. From this vantage point, I see how reproductive rights and reproductive health issues connect within the larger framework of justice. My historiographic training helps me shed light on rhetorics of the recent past, which are valuable in their own right and which can illuminate current concerns related to reproduction. I have also taught my first undergraduate class related to the rhetoric of health and medicine and look forward to teaching a graduate class with this focus this academic year.
